You care about your personal privacy. I take that concern seriously. This statement describes Content Elf’s policies and practices—and your rights—involving any personal data you might put into this site when making contact, filling in a form, or commenting on the Content Elf blog.
By using Content Elf, you agree to these terms, and I will keep you posted if I change them.
Your Information and the Content Elf Website
Content Elf collects the personal information you might put on your business card. You might also use a form for the “Getting Started” part of our business relationship. As Content Elf does not register accounts, the data you will need to supply on our site to get to the order goal is minimal, if any.
When visitors contact Content Elf via Contact Us form on our site, the information is sent to me via email and is not saved to any internal or external databases. Content Elf retains your contact and other information submitted through this site or by email only for the purpose of responding to you. I do not use contact form submissions for marketing purposes. I do retain emails for a reasonable time, for the convenience of effective communications with past, current, and potential clients, in connection with legitimate business reasons. In short, I use the information you supply to me to provide you with appropriate content writing. I do not use your information for any other purpose. Nor do I sell your information to anyone, ever.
Content Elf’s sole income stream is through direct content writing orders. Quite simply: Content Elf will never attempt to use your user information except to respond to your communications, communicate on the blog, or handle an order.
Neither your e-mail address nor any other information will ever be transferred to a third party by Content Elf without your knowledge and permission. Should you use PayPal to process a payment for your order(s), it is prohibited from using your user information for any other purpose. Content Elf does not collect your credit card information.
This and most any website collects certain information automatically and stores it in logs. Your browser provides this information automatically as you travel around the web.
A cookie file carries and collects information that a website will use to track the pages and number of times you visit them. The data collected may be linked to personally identifying and non-personally identifying information, including your general location and internet protocol (IP) address, your browser type, and your operating system.
Although most web browsers automatically accept cookies, they do allow users to modify their browser settings to manage, delete, or opt out of cookies on some or all websites.
Through WordPress, Google Analytics may collect log information about your use of websites including the type of browser that you use; the time, duration and frequency of your access; pages viewed; your IP address; and browser history.
European Union (EU) Data Law
Although by its provisions the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), effective May 25, 2018, does not apply to Content Elf, I support the law and consider it beneficial for better data privacy for people all around the world.
We and all companies related to hosting this site are headquartered and process information in the United States. WordPress, upon which Content Elf site is built, collects analytics-focused data on its servers, and on the servers of the cloud-based database management services it might engage, located in the United States. WordPress committed to subjecting all personal data received from EU countries and Switzerland to the Privacy Shield Framework and its applicable principles.
Client communications with Content Elf are occasional and not likely to result in a risk to anyone’s rights and freedoms under EU or any other law; and Content Elf never processes personal data relating to criminal histories. Content Elf acknowledges and respects international law, and your privacy. Content Elf will only receive data with your consent, in the legitimate business interest of Content Elf, in a manner that does not outweigh your rights and freedoms.
Please take reasonable precautions to protect your information. Use caution not to divulge personal details in comments to the Content Elf blog. People outside the US are encouraged to contact the Elf directly with questions or to place orders. If you are in the EU and wish to use this site, please provide Content Elf with clear and unequivocal consent to the collection, processing, and sharing of your user information via cookies and similar technologies.
Please note: In the interest of compatibility with EU law and general expectations of privacy:
- Content Elf will always facilitate your accessing, correcting, or requesting the deletion or the portability of your information. Should you wish to delete any information under Content Elf’s control (such as blog comments), simply content Content Elf and allow up to 48 hours for deletion.
- Content Elf will always use industry standard electronic and organizational safeguards to protect your privacy.
If you are concerned that your privacy may have been breached, let us know. You may also contact data protection authorities in the European Union if you have concerns about your rights under the data protection law.
Security of Your Information
All information you provide to us gets stored on secure servers, with firewalls designed to protect it against intruders. Content Elf uses WordPress, which in turn uses secure socket layer security. Content Elf uses HubSpot CRM to manage email accounts and update people on topics pertinent to doing business, and occasionally may use MailChimp to send emails pursuant to the recipient’s affirmative request (opt-in only, with a straightforward way to unsubscribe direct from the email).
Note that no data transmission over the internet or through any type of data storage platform is guaranteed fully secure. Content Elf cannot be responsible for hacking or other security issues outside of a writer’s reasonable control.
As for the part of security under Content Elf’s control, your personal data goes directly to myself. There is no outsourcing and no other employees. I have a professional responsibility to maintain the confidentiality, privacy, and security of your information. I take it seriously.
